From Inception to Completion: What You Need to Know about Capital Projects

These one-day seminars are designed for small and mid-sized arts organizations considering a facility project. Presentations and discussions will address such questions as: Is your organization adequately prepared to take on a facility project? What will the impact be on programming and operations? What are the major project decisions that need to be made? This seminar will also offer an overview of the role of feasibility studies, real estate and building code issues, sources of support, volunteer management and use of consultants.

Objectives:

  • Create a checklist of project decisions;
  • Understand feasibility studies;
  • Evaluating lease and acquisition opportunities;
  • Identify sources of funding;
  • Complying with building codes;
  • Capital budgeting and campaigns.
