For the past five years, Jane Gardner has served as the General Manager of Carousel Players, a theatre for young audience touring company and manager of the Sullivan Mahoney Courthouse Theatre in the historic Courthouse in downtown St. Catharines. She has spent over twenty-five years working in the performing arts – as an executive director, general manager, publicist and communications director for the Blyth Festival, Great Canadian Theatre Company, Theatre Ontario, Theatre New Brunswick, Huron Country Playhouse, Marlene Smith & Company, and Ottawa International Jazz Festival.
While Executive Director at Theatre Ontario (1998-2004), Jane launched a three-year health and safety training program for theatre managers, supported a network of summer theatres (Association of Summer Theatres 'Round Ontario), commissioned studies and reports (Spaced Out, Building Blocks and a theatre manager's guide to the Ontario Building code) and worked with Ontario's arts service organizations to secure the initial funding and resources that helped to create ArtsBuild Ontario.
She is an active member of the user groups working with the City of St. Catharines and Diamond and Schmitt Architects to build a new performing arts centre in St. Catharines that will open in 2014.
