Long Term Financing for Cultural Infrastructure Projects
ArtsBuild has a specific mandate to explore ways in which capital projects can be financed through a broad an array of funding sources. Though arts organizations most typically look to grants and donor support to fund their capital needs, commercial long term financing can save substantial amounts of money in the total project cost and can be used along with grants and fundraising.
Traditionally, not-for-profit organizations have a difficult time meeting the risk analysis profiles required by conventional lenders. ArtsBuild works with lenders such as the Infrastructure Ontario's Loan Program (formerly OSIFA) and commerical credit unions to promote the ways in which arts organizations might become eligible for their long term loans.
ArtsBuild is also working with the Ontario Social Enterprise Roundtable (OSER) to help enable beneficial regulatory changes.
With many possible new solutions, ArtsBuild EDUCATION and INFORMATION programs become increasingly valuable as ArtsBuild, arts organizations and funders work together to increase the number of successful projects.
