Creative Spaces Mentoring Network 2021-2022

Creative Spaces Mentoring Network

Mentorship is about expanding your knowledge, growing your skills and making connections. ArtsBuild Ontario’s Creative Spaces Mentoring Network (CSMN) is a mentoring program for leaders in Ontario’s arts and heritage sectors focused on strengthening business and management skills needed to successfully oversee, renew and develop creative spaces. The 2021-2022 CSMN program will be its seventh iteration, and we are excited to announce some new changes that are being implemented for the program.

About The Program

Through the Creative Spaces Mentoring Network, leaders in Ontario’s arts community who are responsible for their spaces, capital-related issues, or are seeking to acquire creative space will have the unique opportunity of one-to-one learning with an experienced professional in the Ontario arts and heritage sector.

The 2021-2022 CSMN program will include an in-person Kick-Off Webinar, Mid-Program Webinar, and a Wrap Up Webinar. This seventh iteration will additionally provide participants with several optional webinars on topics around creative spaces, as well as a Creative Space Project Resource Guide, paired with COVID Relief Reports for Artists.

How It Works

ArtsBuild Ontario will match arts and cultural leaders from around Ontario with experienced mentors from their own or other sectors. After an initial training webinar, the mentoring teams will meet in person for up to three hours monthly from June 30, 2021 to June 29, 2022. The mentoring team discussions are confidential and will focus on particular challenges and skills identified by the mentee at the beginning of the partnership. All teams will take part in a Kick-Off Webinar, Mid-Program Webinar and a Wrap Up Webinar. Additional training materials and learning opportunities, including webinars on creative space projects, will be provided to participants.

How to Apply

In response to the needs of cultural leaders in the arts during this COVID-19 pandemic, and in understanding of artists’ capacities in this ever-changing landscape, the mentee fee for the program is now $50 + HST. It is free to apply for the program, however, this fee must be paid if you are selected and matched with a mentor. Once selected, ArtsBuild Ontario asks that you please sign a letter of agreement that will outline your role and our expectations. If you are selected by ArtsBuild Ontario, will work diligently to match you with a suitable mentor based on the skills outlined in your application. We will contact applicants to arrange meetings with prospective mentors in March – April 2021 when the mentor-mentee matching process is underway. Once you have been matched with a mentor, ArtsBuild Ontario will provide details on how to submit the $50 + HST program fee.
