What about your development director?\u00a0 Have you considered help from a consultant?<\/li>\n<li>Are all board members <b>current donors<\/b>?\u00a0 Are most board members prepared to make a <b>major contribution<\/b> to the campaign?<\/li>\n<li>Are board members ready and able to <b>open doors<\/b> for major gift solicitation? Your board is often your best route to the community leaders who will fund your project \u2013 a board with limited community connections may need additions.<\/li>\n<li>Have you built <b>strong consensus<\/b> on the board and staff about the project?\u00a0 Only a <b>unified voice<\/b> among project leadership will result in community credibility and willingness among donors to get involved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Case for Support and Campaign Plan<\/h2>\n<p>A rock-solid campaign plan and case for support are essential predecessors to a successful capital campaign.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Case for Support, which you\u2019ve likely drafted as part of your fundraising feasibility study, should:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe an <b>urgent need<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Detail how the <b>project addresses the need<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Address how it <b>supports your mission<\/b> and dovetails with your strategic plan<\/li>\n<li>Convey the <b>impact<\/b> <b>of the project<\/b> vividly<\/li>\n<li>Back up the case with <b>business plan information<\/b> and other statistics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>A Campaign Plan sets up the process for achieving the campaign goal<\/h2>\n<p>It should be developed in the context of your strategic plan and general development plan, so as not to short-circuit ongoing annual fund development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Campaign Plan includes (but isn\u2019t limited to): <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A<b> gift chart<\/b> outlining the amount and quantity of gifts required at each level<\/li>\n<li>Detailed<b> donor prospects<\/b> for the top levels of giving<\/li>\n<li><b>Strategies<\/b> for soliciting individual, foundation, corporate, and in-kind gifts<\/li>\n<li>Campaign <b>timetable<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Budget for <b>campaign expenses<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Campaign Leadership Leadership is one of the most important components of a successful capital campaign.\u00a0 Some questions to ask about your organization\u2019s readiness to lead a capital campaign: Does executive staff have campaign experience?
