{"id":824,"date":"2013-01-09T05:07:27","date_gmt":"2013-01-09T10:07:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.artsbuildontario.ca\/pibi\/2013\/01\/09\/predesign-2\/"},"modified":"2017-04-21T14:43:18","modified_gmt":"2017-04-21T18:43:18","slug":"predesign-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.artsbuildontario.ca\/pibi\/?p=824","title":{"rendered":"Predesign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Predesign, the <b>key design parameters<\/b> of the project are worked out, so they are known before beginning design in earnest.<\/p>\n<h2>These include:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Program confirmation<\/li>\n<li>Preliminary project cost estimates<\/li>\n<li>Scope and schedule analyses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some projects may have completed aspects of Predesign during the development of a project concept; in this case, the Predesign phase is an opportunity to <b>confirm<\/b> <b>those findings<\/b> and develop them with the <b>selected design team<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, but not always, preliminary ideas about <b>how a building will look<\/b> are sketched out during Predesign.\u00a0 Small projects may skip the Predesign phase entirely and go directly to Schematic Design, but most projects will benefit from at least a short Predesign phase to confirm the building program and other design drivers.\u00a0 A well-executed Predesign package that explains the key parameters of a design can be a useful tool for early fundraising and developing government support for a project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Predesign, the key design parameters of the project are worked out, so they are known before beginning design in earnest.
