Accessibility

ArtsBuild Ontario is dedicated to supporting our organizations in creating accessible and inclusive spaces for all. We are committed to providing up-to-date learning opportunities and resources around ways to fund and finance projects to implement and improve accessibility standards in your facilities.

According to the Ontario legislation, non-profit arts organizations must make new or redeveloped public spaces accessible by January 1, 2018. We will include further compliance requirements for existing buildings as the legislation becomes available.

We have listed some granting programs here that have been available to our arts organizations to fund capital work to improve the accessibility in your space.

Building

Helping you develop and renew your facilities

Capital projects – whether to renew existing facilities or to develop new ones – are usually once-in-a-lifetime events. ArtsBuild has the tools and resources to provide the guidance needed to complete these important facility projects. Arts organizations have identified the following knowledge gaps when it comes to capital projects:

  • Limited experience or training in managing capital projects
  • No network of experienced colleagues to turn to for advice
  • No access to relevant templates, guides and tools

Our online resources such as PLAN IT | BUILD IT and the Resource Library are designed to help arts organizations access reliable information to support their projects. ArtsBuild also provides in-person and online learning opportunities with topic experts to further assist and train our arts organizations on executing building projects on budget and on time.
