Planning for the moving-in period should commence several months in advance.
New staff may need to be hired and trained in enough time to hit the ground running prior to opening. Existing personnel – as well as existing files, furniture, artwork, etc. – will need to plan to move to new quarters if required, and staff should be involved in training and orientation in the new facility. Consideration should be given to orienting audiences and visitors as well, even if the project is on a familiar site. Towards the end of construction, your communication with staff and stakeholders should ramp up to begin to include this new information.
