Early Post-Occupancy

The first several months after moving into a new building are a critical period for evaluating the project’s performance and ironing out any wrinkles while the project is still under the GC’s warranty.

Any issues that appear should be logged by the project manager or another point-person who should coordinate with the appropriate party to address the problem.  It is useful during this period to assemble the members of your organization who were closely involved in the project for a de-briefing and to record lessons-learned for the benefit of future projects.  Feedback may also be given to the design team, construction team, and key funders and stakeholders.
